How to Open a Good Faith Inquiry (GFI) in Beacon MFP

Learn how to open a Good Faith Inquiry to request review of an MFP refund request

Updated over a month ago

Beacon MFP enables dispensing entities to work in good faith with manufacturers to resolve an inquiry related to an MFP refund request. Beacon MFP's GFI Wizard enables dispensing entities to open a Good Faith Inquiry on the applicable ICN directly from their Beacon MFP account.

Before You Begin

  • One or more refund requests have been processed and are available in MFP.

  • You have the Rebate ICN for the refund request you want to review.

  • You have access to the Rebate Details for the rebate that you want to inquire about.

Opening a Good Faith Inquiry (GFI)

  1. Navigate to the Rebate Details for the rebate that you want to open a GFI. If you have the ICN, consider using the search bar; otherwise, find the rebate from your list of rebates and open the details from quick view panel.

  2. Click Create New Inquiry to open the GFI Wizard and begin creating a GFI.

  3. Review the rebate information listed in the GFI Wizard and click Next.

  4. Select the inquiry statement from the list of available statements that best describes your inquiry.

  5. Review the rebate details and the inquiry information, noting any associated error or pricing codes and other indicators of potential issues. Once you've confirmed the details and identified what needs attention, select Open Inquiry.

  6. Add any details and attachments, such as claims receipts, that will help substantiate your claim, and when you're ready, click Submit.

Once submitted, the GFI is available to view in the Resolution Center, where you should monitor its status as well as keep an eye out for any communication from Beacon or manufacturer concerning any additional actions required. Should you need a local copy of the GFI, the inquiry can be exported for your own records, allowing you to save or share a copy as needed for documentation or follow‑up purposes.

Note: Per CMS guidance, pharmaceutical manufacturers have up to 14 days to process MFP rebate requests. During this period, a GFI may not yet be available for some selected rebate requests.
